90 min Suggested Format PDF  | Print |  E-mail

KX works best with at least 1 1/2 hr format to include everything, but obviously can be adjusted based on the time you have to work with them.

We suggest in KX that there be 6 different stations that the kids go to each night.

Suggestion 1

Opening (10 min.)
Welcome kids.  Play KX theme song.  Announcements. Praise and Worship Song. Dismiss to handbook time.

Handbook (10 min.)
The groups will all move to handbook time. In each group, there are 2 handbooks that the children can potentially work through.  Each handbook is age appropriate, and you will find that there a 3 sections (Bible reading, memorization/small projects, and family devotions).  You will also notice that a parent must sign off each section the child is attempting to pass off before the child can earn a pin. With this format, the parent IS the spiritual leader for their child and actually knows what the child is learning

The next 3 rotations can be done simultaneously (60 min.)
Bible Time (20 min.)
Teach the nightly Bible lesson with the 3 different groups as they rotate to Bible Time.

Games (20 min.)
We feel it is important for kids to have a fun, structured time each week to play a game in KX. There are several game books available on our site.

Special Interest (20 min.)
Look for various people in your church who have a special skill/talent that the kids would enjoy learning about. Some of the different special interest classes you could have are: camping, sign language, drama, first aid, missions, Bible quiz, knot tying, cooking, policeman, fireman, veterinarian, drama, photography, videography, dance, scrapbooking, manners, etc.  Offer a class for 1-2 months at a time and then rotate to the next special interest.  Variety is a good thing.

Closing (10 min.)
Have an award ceremony for what the children have earned that night. Dismiss
